Eighth grade is a whole new ballgame than seventh. My boyfriend will be at the high school, so I hopefully won’t be so distracted by him. Hey, I’m thirteen, I can’t help that. Anyways, I’m determind to have a more positive attitude about this school year. Last year was terrible for me, and I let it get to me. This year’s gonna be different.
I plan to beat Jessica at awards day. In sixth grade, I got a TON of awards, and this year I got three. Jessica got a lot more than me, and a few of the awards I got in sixth. I’m happy for her and all, but I’m gonna win those awards this year. I’m already reading books over the summer and keeping a log of them so that the AR award is covered. (:
Maybe my friends will grow up a little bit over the summer. Maybe they’ll realize what’s been staring them in the face for the past year and a half. Just maybe.
Hopefully my teacher(s) will have an ounce of smarts in them this year, and maybe I’ll just have to live with them if they don’t. Eighth grade is going to be weird; top dogs of the school again, and headed off to high school next year.
God, I’m growing up too fast.
Like it or not, you and a handful of your friends must be leaders at your school. It isn’t about the awards, really, though it IS nice to be recognized for your achievements, but rather, it is about sticking to who you are, and respecting those around you who aren’t like you. You, Jordan, Wadd, Log, and Alex are all gifted, and I’d love to see you guys use those gifts to make a difference at your school, and in this community.
Congratulations!
